Awkwafina
Awkwafina began as a American musician and rapper making sly songs that addressed questions of race and sexual identities with a funny twist. In the years before she stepped to Hollywood her career, she could perform a variety of tracks. Nora Lum began her musical journey as a trumpet player. Born in Forest Hills Queens, she was the child of Chinese immigrants and Koreans. The classical, jazz, and hip-hop studies began when she was just a teenager. While in college, she took classes in writing and women's studies. In addition, she spent a short time studying Mandarin at the University of Beijing. Not until after graduation did her focus shift to music. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet hit and was included on her debut album Yellow Ranger. Some other hits that went viral included queef, a body positive song and the winking NYC Bitche$ hometown tour. This latter song was directly linked to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide for 2015, which was a travel guide. As a musician and an author on her resume she determined to pursue a third endeavor actor. As well as early shows that included Girl Code and Tawk - she appeared in the movies Neighbors 2 Storks & Bad Rap. In 2018 she landed breakthrough roles in a handful of high-profile films like Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. In June, she debuted her EP "In Fina We Trust".
